Finished tracks!

13 01 2010

The final mastered tracks have been uploaded to the Blue Rocket MySpace page! The best part of four months has passed and finally all the hard work has paid off.  Thanks goes out to Phil, Chris, Matt, and John for all their help which has made this possible, and to everyone who has supported us – friends, family and most importantly you, our fans, you are ultimately who we do it for.

For now Luke, Maria, Natti, Jack and Richard will say goodbye, and thanks for following our project. We hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have and that we have perhaps helped aspiring bands out. Maybe one day we’ll be back!

Blue Rocket T-shirts

13 01 2010

Our very own Natti Glover, the vocalist in Blue Rocket, has been busy with a needle and thread creating these wonderful Blue Rocket T-shirts and vests for your fashion pleasure. And if that’s not impressive enough, she still has all her fingers intact! Well done Natti!

Myspace page update

9 01 2010

Updates have just been made to the Blue Rocket Myspace page check it out, add Blue Rocket as a friend and watch this space for the finished tracks coming out at the beginning of next week!

Final tracking stages

20 12 2009

A mega 12 hour studio session was upon us, and we needed to get as many instruments tracked as possible and ready for the vocals to be laid down a couple of days later.  This gave us a tight schedule but one that was achievable, and good fun too!  We managed to track drums, bass, acoustic guitar, multiple electric guitar lines, a fantastic sounding Steinway grand piano, and some choice percussion. Many thanks go to John Harris (drums) and Matt Page (bass) for their help with tracking.

Now onto the mix!

Photo Shoot

26 11 2009

Here are some results from our photo shoot. Once again, thanks to Chris Hudson for these photos…

“It’s Just A Demo” the track

25 11 2009

CHECK OUT the demo of “It’s Just A Demo” on the Blue Rocket myspace page now, leave us your thoughts and feedback.

Have been working on the final tracks for release, one stripped live performance with mostly acoustic guitar and vocals but also featuring some classic shaker moments not to be missed. The other is a studio version that will be far more developed then the demo with full band, comprising drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard, and anything else we can throw at it! Watch this space…

Photo shoot

25 11 2009

Name, music, logo – almost ready to start getting webpages up and running, just need some decent photos of the band now.

Had a great photo shoot with Chris Hudson at sites around Kingston uni, the rain held off and our only obstacle was a guy with a rake!

Results will be posted soon, but here’s a snap from the ‘models’ perspective…

Enter the studio

24 11 2009
After ideas had been drafted we entered the professional studios at Coombehurst, Kingston University, to record our demo. Using microphones – AKG C414, Shure SM58, Shure SM57, Neumann KM184, Avalon DI and ProTools we tracked the guitar, vocals and percussion for the demo “It’s Just a demo” which can be heard on our myspace page.

Step 2 – band name

20 11 2009

Probably the hardest part, this was done whilst working on the rest of the song.  Essentially names were shouted out at random until we all agreed on one… so here we have “Blue Rocket” pop band extraordinaire!

After the name comes the logo, so watch this space for works in progress…

Step 1 – write a song!

20 11 2009

Put five music students in the same room with a piano, a guitar, and a white board and what do you get?

A hit song, or just a load of pictures all over the white board?

In fact, both!

Throw a mixing desk and mac into the equation and a song starts to form (or at least the chorus), not to mention an arty photo of Jack supplying some backing vocals.

Blue Rocket Music

21 10 2009

Welcome to the Blue Rocket Music blog. We are a group of students in our third year at Kingston university who have been given a project to create a band, write a song, record it, mix it and market it. So …here goes nothing! Look out for updates on our activities and see how we’re getting on…
